HomeVideosA montage of St Dominic’s Christmas Picnics between 1955 and 1965

This video is a selection of clips, spanning the years between 1955 – 1965, from the St Dominic’s School for the Deaf annual Christmas Picnic events. Between 1955 and 1965, St Dominic’s pupils from Island Bay went to an annual Christmas Picnic event, where appear to have had lots of fun, and enjoyed acting out in front of the camera! The day included a picnic with volunteers and Sisters, as well as trips to horse farms where each pupil took turns to ride the horse.

They had a special visit from Santa who rode in on a horse and the pupils received presents from him. The events were run by volunteers from Guild of the Holy Spirit and Legion of Mary from the Wellington Region.
