  • Last Reunion on St Dominic’s Feilding Grounds

Footage covers the four-day summer festivities celebrating the 45th Jubilee of St Dominic’s School for the Deaf, from 30th December 1989 to 2nd January 1990. The 45th reunion was the last one held at St Dominic’s School for the Deaf premises. St Dominic’s was amalgamated with St Joseph’s School in Feilding in May 1989.

Footage takes us through the St Dominic’s building at Aorangi, Feilding. We enter the driveway and main entrance to the school, around the dormitory block, classrooms, playground, swimming pool and its chapel.

Mass is held at the St Brigid’s Church in Feilding on 1st January 1990, followed by afternoon tea at St Dominic’s. The cutting of the 45th Jubilee cake was by Sister Conrad with the youngest pupil; Elizabeth Hurley, and the oldest pupil; Patricia WhauWhau. A BBQ is held on the same grounds the next day.
