A tour group of 24 Deaf Japanese visitors dropped by the Christchurch Deaf Club on a Friday evening in December 1994. 29 visitors were planned but 5 were sick and stayed back at their hotel. The group leader gave Tom Still, the President, a decorative fan to hang on the wall at the Club to remember the group visiting. There were also visitors from Scotland and England that night, with around 90-100 people attending.
