Auckland Deaf Society newsletter: June 1989

Some of the items featured in Auckland Deaf Society’s June 1989 newsletter:

  • Auckland Deaf Rugby League played vs Wellington Deaf at Kumeu Greyhond Park on Saturday 11 April. The game was won by Auckland 20-16. At halftime, the score was 14-4.
  • At the ADS’s Combined Sport Committee AGM, it was agreed to host the New Zealand Deaf Games in Auckland in October 1990. People are sought for the following positions: hostess secretary and assistant secretary, chairperson and treasurer.
  • The NZDSA will have its 25th Annual General Meeting on the weekend of 22 and 23 July 1989. At the same time, a special evening will be organised at Christchurch Deaf Club to thank members of the World Deaf Games Organising Committee to thank them.
  • A Senior Citizens group is being formed and any senior members of ADS are welcomed to join the group. It is thought perhaps the group would meet at the Deaf Centre once or twice a month during winter and organise an outing during the summer months.
