  • David Molloy’s ordination in Christchurch in July was a very momentous occasion as he is the first deaf priest to be ordained in New Zealand. 
  • A report on St Dominic’s 45th Jubilee, December 30 1988 – January 2 1989. It was wonderful to be reunited with so many ex-pupils, Sisters and friends. On Saturday, there was a roll call by Sister Maureen. Everyone divided into groups according to the years they attended St. Dominic’s and professional photos were taken of these groups. 
  • ‘The Pastoral Ministry to Deaf People’ – a report on the meeting to discuss its future held on 2 January 1989. 
  • Irene Harris celebrated her 100th birthday at St Joseph’s Home in Herne Bay on 6 March 1989.
