Auckland Deaf Society newsletter: July 1989
Some of the items featured in Auckland Deaf Society’s July 1989 newsletter:
- At least 25 people are going to the Deaf Way conference in Washington D.C, USA – adult deaf parents of deaf children, teachers, social workers for the Deaf.
- The NZ Sign Language Group has started classes for hearing people wanting to learn NZ Sign Language at the Deaf Centre. They have classes on Tuesday and Thursday nights!
- Congratulations to Sen Smith who at long last got his gold star at the NZ Indoor Bowls Championships held in Tauranga recently. Sen had his 4th win way back in 1971 so it has taken him 19 years to get his 5th title. Also to Barry Binnaird who was runner-up for the singles title and was in the winning fours team with Sen.
