Kathleen French, Auckland’s ‘Deaf Grandmother’ and a life member of Auckland Deaf Society celebrates her 90th birthday party at the Balmoral clubroom on 24 May 2003. She had a birthday lunch with approximately 140 people attending, with many of them in fancy dress costume! Auckland Deaf Society gave her a voucher for two nights in Rotorua as a present. Kathleen was heavily involved in ADS since its formation in 1937 with her areas of interest being in development, fundraising, sports and social. Speeches are given by Ngaire Doherty, Kathleen French, members of Kathleen’s family, Laurie Schischka, John McRae and Celia King.
