David Loving-Molloy of the Catholic Deaf Centre in Palmerston North joins Graeme Thomson on ‘Praise Be’, a TV show that ran in New Zealand from 1985-2016. David describes being a Deaf priest, and how he found running mass with a mixed Deaf/hearing audience did not work, and so he now runs mass with a Deaf-only congregation. David also delves into his work at the Catholic Deaf Centre, where he looks after the spiritual life of the Deaf community. He explains the challenges with this as spirituality is an abstract concept, and Deaf people are naturally very visual, preferring to see concepts in more concrete forms. David ends this segment with a closing thought, which is an old Eastern saying.
