Some of the items featured in the St Dominic’s Catholic Deaf Centre’s ‘Deaf Southern Star’ (Vol. 38, No. 3, 2016) newsletter:

  • In July Sr Maureen organised the Celebration of the Dominican 800th Jubilee and year of Mercy in Palmerston North and some Deaf people helped with the flags, sign singing, readings – sign and prayers. It was a great mass. There are two conferences coming if you are interested, the Auckland Dominican Family National Gathering will be on 18-20th Nov. The second one is the Wellington Catholic Deaf Conference in February next year. 
  • Rachel Marr (Rasmussen) is the new pastoral worker for the Catholic Deaf Community in Auckland, replacing Judith Mason after 5 years. She will be based at the Pompallier Centre.
