Job Advertisement: Interpreters for the Deaf
Applications are invited for the first New Zealand course of interpreter training.
After the training both full-time and part-time positions will be available.
Applicants should have worked with deaf people and be sympathetic to their needs. They should be able to communicate using signing and have sound educational qualifications in general and in English especially.
All training will take place in Auckland. On completion of the course, the trained interpreters will be based in Auckland and Christchurch.
After the first course there will be an opportunity for successful applicants to continue their training and become teachers of subsequent courses.
The course is due to start about the middle of April and run for approximately four months. Closing date for applications, March 2, 1985.
