News Review, (prior to Deaf people being added to the presenting team), features Stephen Leach, an Auckland Deaf student studying at Gallaudet College (now Gallaudet University). Stephen has returned home for a holiday after two and half years at Gallaudet, studying towards a maths and physics degree.

This is an edited version of a full-length episode of News Review that aired 24th June 1983.

In 1987, News Review became the first New Zealand programme to incorporate NZSL in its production. The show ceased in 1991 and to date, there has not been a similar programme using Deaf presenters or NZSL in full.
