Absolutely Positively Windy Deaf: September 2014

Some of the items featured in Wellington Deaf Society’s September 2014 newsletter:

  • Members voted to sell the WDS building. The process is expected to be a long one, with the BOM in discussions with Deaf Aotearoa on how to proceed with this. 
  • The NZSL Championships hosted at the Deaf Club, organised by Deafradio. Darryl won the Wellington regional championship, competing with Oliver, Renee and James.
  • NZSL Bubs & Tots Playgroup (Wellington Region) advertises its group which is open to all families with deaf and hearing impaired children aged 0-5 years old. Signing hearing children are welcome too. 
  • Video Relay Interpreting will be coming in October and November, with workshops provided on what it is, where it can be used and how you can request a video interpreter.
