Some of the items featured in Auckland Deaf Society’s June 1990 newsletter:

  • The NZ Deaf Rugby League team will be at the Deaf Club on Friday evening (Friday 1 June 1990) where you can chat with them before they play against the Australian team on 3 June at Carlaw Park. The second game will be at Bank Road. The third game will be at Auckland Domain. 
  • The Deaf Action Group headed by Danny Beech has written to the Ministry of Education’s Special Education Taskforce saying that they must have a deaf person involved in the Committee because of the special communication needs of deaf people. The NZAD has written a submission to the same Special Taskforce with ten major recommendations. 
  • 700 signatures from all around the country asking TVNZ to change the time of News Review. 
  • People are asked to enter the Miss Deaf Auckland competition, to be held on Saturday July 14, 1990. This event will be organised by Adrienne Killen and Emma Killen.
