Auckland Deaf Society newsletter: December 1989
Some of the items featured in Auckland Deaf Society’s December 1989 newsletter:
- ‘The Story of the Auckland Deaf Society for the First Half Century’ by John Hunt is now on sale at $25.00.
- The NZAD has asked Auckland Deaf Society to form a Sign Singers group for the opening of the Commonwealth Games on 24 January 1990. Any interested people are welcomed to join the Sign Singers group.
- This year several hearing people have been coming to the Deaf Centre to learn NZ Sign Language. The Deaf Society would like more Deaf people to come along to help teach hearing people. 2-4 more Deaf people are needed. The first lessons for 1990 will be in early March. The first meeting of NZSLTA will be held early February 1990.
- The next meeting of the Deaf Action group will be held on 11 December. The meeting will discuss what to do if TVNZ decides to drop News Review due to not enough money.
