Auckland Deaf Society newsletter: April 1964

Some of the items featured in Auckland Deaf Society’s April 1964 newsletter:

  • The virtues of being on the Club’s committee are outlined as never having the opportunity to have a dance with their girlfriends at the Club’s function (is it any wonder that they find themselves in the doghouse!). It is also not easy being a committeeman or woman in a place the size of Auckland. For those who catch buses to meetings (unless one is the owner of a “bomb”), it means changing buses twice, sometimes three times to get to a meeting.
  • The Club entertained the Governor-General and Lady Fergusson at the Welfare Centre on 4 April 1964. Around 160 people were present.
  • The Club has lined up the Annual Ball, the Convention, the Annual Fair and the Christmas Party for 1964. It’s gearing up to be a very busy year!
