News special for the deaf

CHRISTCHURCH, Today (PA). — New Zealand’s first television programme for deaf people will be broadcast nationally from Christchurch next Saturday.

It will be the first time that a national news programme has been put together in Christchurch and transmitted from the city throughout the country.

Television Two will screen the review of international and national news at 6pm each Saturday from next week.

Designed as a permanent feature of television programming, it has been planned in close association with deaf people, some of whom helped to select the programme’s news reader, Miss Janis McArdle.
