New support group for deaf

The inaugural general meeting of Friends of the Deaf will be held on June 11 at the Foundation for the Blind facilities in Hankey Street.

The meeting will be addressed by Mrs Marianne Ahlgren who will speak on the use of total communication in many parts of the world.

This first meeting follows a year’s work by a steering committee, which has laid the groundwork for the future, says secretary Mr I A Noble.
