A shipwreck themed fancy dress party – a basketball fundraiser – was organised by the Christchurch Deaf Basketball Club on 20th April 1991, at the Deaf Society of Canterbury clubrooms. A $10 entry ticket included supper and prizes. Shaun Fahey’s drawing of a topless mermaid draws plenty of attention. There are pirates aplenty and dress parades.
