Some of the items featured in Auckland Deaf Society’s June 2009 newsletter:

  • On Monday 4 May 2009, lots of ADS members went to the Auckland Town Hall to formally launch NZSL Week, and watch an American Deaf comedian, John Maucere perform on stage. 
  • ADS introduces a new computerised membership system, a swipe card for entrance to the Deaf Club. There will no longer be a doorperson present each Friday. Those using their cards will have an opportunity to win the new Club Raffle and Jackpot. 
  • There was a SSR meeting on 22 May. It’s Auckland’s turn to host the 50th NZ Deaf Games in Auckland. A host committee has been formed.
