Hat Band: New Zealand Deaf Sports Team, Tenth International Games for the Deaf, Washington D.C. 1965

The black band with NEW ZEALAND in white was on the base of the New Zealand men’s team hats.

Auckland Deaf Society sent a number of its members to the Games, either as athletes or as the manager, assistant manager and chaperone: N.G. Norris (Athletics, Auckland), P.F. Murray (Indoor Basketball, Auckland), R.J. Ballantine (Indoor Basketball, Auckland), O.B. Gibbons (Indoor Basketball, Auckland), R.T. Siviter (Indoor Basketball, Auckland), J.P. McRae (Wrestling – Team Captain), W.G. Williams (Assistant Manager, Auckland), Mrs K.A. Smith (Chaperon, Auckland), S.E.N. Smith (Manager, Auckland).
