1962 has been a busy and rewarding year for the Committee. They have found time to run two raffles, organise a Jubilee Ball and Dinner, a social once a month and formed a Youth Group which is flourishing.
In our own grounds we have two beautiful tennis courts. Tennis is a great game to keep you fit. Why don’t some of you try it? There are bats and balls at the Club just going begging.
Annual Picnic to be held at Motuihe Island at the start of the New Year.

Former Auckland Deaf Society President and life member, Owen Gibbons says that one of his best memories was travelling to the World Deaf Games as part of the New Zealand Deaf basketball mens team. His eyes “literally popped out at what he saw over there!”

Compiling ‘The Story of the Auckland Deaf Society Inc 1937 – 1987’ book

John was keen to know about the history of Auckland Deaf Society, and upon the approval of the Board of Management, he compiled a book two years before the 50th Anniversary of ADS. It took him three years to finish the book, and it was released one year after the anniversary.
