The Manawatu Deaf Netball Club celebrates their 25th Jubilee (1976 – 2001) on 16 June 2000 at the Manawatu Deaf Society Clubrooms. The Manawatu Deaf Netball Club was set up in 1976, a year after the Auckland Deaf Netball Club was established. At the Manawatu jubilee, many current and past netball players reminisce about the good times in the club, give speeches, show a montage of photos, display old netball uniforms, and even present a beautiful customised cake with photos on it to celebrate! (with the oldest and youngest players (Barbara Hazelwood and Raychel McMillan) given the honour to cut the cake. The celebrations were capped off with a shared dinner.
