But the real upgrade came later – a massive 43-foot ex-Navy longboat, perfect for overnight trips with space to sleep six comfortably. With its panoramic windows offering clear views in every direction, it was an ideal boat for Deaf fishers, making every trip both practical and truly special!

Beginner’s Luck? Ngaire Doherty Lands ‘Heaviest Snapper of the Year’!

Talk about beginner’s luck! Despite having no fishing experience, Auckland Deaf Society President Ngaire Doherty landed a massive 4.78kg snapper aboard Richard Hay’s boat during the Women’s Power Fishing event on Kaipara Harbour. Her impressive catch went on to win the Auckland Fishing Club’s ‘Heaviest Snapper of the Year’ award – beating out seasoned anglers for the title!
