The marriage of Colleen Joan, daughter of Mr and Mrs H. P. Carey, Ruawai, to Norman Garry, son of Mrs C. Norris and the late Mr Norris, Auckland, took place in the Ruawai Methodist Church on Saturday.
The bride, given away by her father, wore a classical Empire-line gown with bodice and sleeves of rich white lace, highlighted with pearls, and the chapel-length train of the same lace falling from the shoulders. The skirt was of plain white satin. The bandeau which held the veil was made of lace and embroidered with pearls.
The matron of honour, Mrs Diane Burch, Gisborne, and the bridesmaid, Miss Valarie Latham, Auckland, wore Empire-line gowns of turquoise slipper satin with matching capes, overlaid with lace. Drop pearls trimmed the gowns.
Their head-dresses were made of the same material as the gowns and formed a narrow band with a bow at the back.
Best man was Mr Peter Joll, Auckland, and the groomsman Mr Terry Siviter, also of Auckland.
The bride’s going away ensemble was an aqua-blue pure silk suit with white accessories.
Mrs Carey, mother of the bride, wore an ensemble of ice-pink French crepe. The frock cut on Empire lines. Her hat was of pink tulle and other accessories were white.
Mrs Norris, mother of the groom, wore a kingfisher blue cloak frock with white accessories and a silver fox fur.
The officiating minister was the Rev. H. Moore.
Among the many guests were pupils from the School for the Deaf at Titirangi who had been at school with the bride and groom, both of whom are totally deaf.
