  • One of WDS’s life members passed away – Doreen Howell, mother of Pam Witko.
  • May 2016 celebrated the 10 year anniversary of NZSL being an official language. The WFD Board stayed in Wellington for one week for their Board meetings and workshops, also taking part in a Q&A panel at WDS’s Friday night gathering.
  • Wellington received four awards in the NZSL Week NZSL Awards evening at Te Papa – two to CQ Hotels (Accessible Service, Employer Awards), St Theresa’s Catholic School (School Award), Lisa Thompson (NZSL in the Media Award).
  • An update from Tony Kuklinski, President of New Zealand Deaf Rugby Football Union on its tour to Argentina.
