Note, the name ‘Auckland Deaf Society Inc.’ came about in 1972 at a Special General Meeting, when Auckland Deaf Society agreed to formally change its name to Auckland Deaf Society Inc (incorporating Friends of the Deaf Inc). Friends of the Deaf held their final meeting on 26 March 1973.
