Owen Gibbons shares some life experiences in this video shot at his home in Auckland. Using various photographs and props, Owen touches on his many Deaf related involvements and memories, including his times at Deaf school, his working life, his passion for Deaf sports and his family.

Owen Bertram Gibbons, born in 1929, is filmed at his home in Auckland. Owen shares bits and pieces of his life, filmed by Dorothy Jones & Mary Johnson on 3 August 2003. Using various photographs and props Owen touches on his many Deaf related involvements and memories, including his times at Deaf school, his work in the tram and bus industries, his passion for Deaf sports in particular basketball, golf, rugby, and shows some of his cherished family photos. Owen was a New Zealand Deaf basketball representative, competing at the Washington D.C. World Deaf Games in 1965, where the New Zealand team came 6th. His team members were Richard Ballantine, Merv Forman, Ray Forman, Keith Gordon, Ken McDiarmid and Terry Siviter. 

Owen was President of Auckland Deaf Society from 1958 to 1959 and 1997 to 1999. He was also a life member of Auckland Deaf Society. He passed away on 9 May 2019 – 90 years old.
