Interesting footage of the NZ Deaf Sports Convention in Palmerston North, 1981. Athletics provides great watching, with the 100m, long distance, long jump and closely contested relay races! Badminton also features. The netball game between Christchurch and Auckland was close, with Christchurch delighted to win! The Colin Kay cup for the Most Outstanding Sportsperson of the Games went to Tony McGill (Christchurch), the Birch Cup for the Most Outstanding Netball player to Madith Robinson (Auckland), and the Aotearoa Turi shield to Christchurch.
